Free online tool assists employers in creating effective hiring programs targeting veterans and military spouses.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes has launched the newest iteration of its “Employer Roadmap,”a comprehensive digital resource for employers to learn more about recruiting, hiring, and retaining veterans and military spouses.

Created in partnership with USAA, the site is a free online tool that informs employers on a variety of topics related to creating effective veteran and military spouse hiring programs within their organizations.

New features of the new and enhanced version of this resource include a downloadable roadmap workbook, a military-friendly job description builder, and a career skills guide for employers to learn more about creating job skills training programs for veteran and military spouse employees.

Content on the web site is arranged to provide a customized approach for employers utilizing the tool, based on their level of experience in the realm of military hiring practices.

“What we have seen in our community is that so many employers come to us wanting to hire veterans and military spouses, but they often times don’t know where to start,” said Eric Eversole, President of Hiring Our Heroes and Vice President at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.  “This is an invaluable online resource for them to learn a wealth of information about what veterans and military spouses have to offer, and how to properly bring them into their organizations.”

The site is divided into three categories – Prepare, Recruit, and Empower – and it builds upon the concept that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to understanding the talents of, and ultimately hiring military veterans and spouses in the civilian community.

The Employer Roadmap can be found online at employerroadmap.org.
